I spent so much time on that sweater that went wrong. For my next project, I went with something smaller. I fell in love with Little Monkeys Crochet’s Jenny Slouch Hat. Link: http://littlemonkeyscrochet.com/slouchy-crochet-hat-free-crochet-pattern/
I had a skein of yarn in my stash whose colors I absolutely love. Of course, it’s a Red Heart Super Saver, which on her blog she specifically states that this is a poor choice to use on this pattern. I figured since I’m still learning, I’ll use this anyway to see why its a bad choice. I also did not change hooks as instructed. I used a 5.5mm for the whole hat. I did test the gauge this time, which came out correct by the number of stitches across, but the height was smaller. I proceeded anyway. Owen helped.
I’m really happy with how it came out. I do understand now why she said not to use this type of yarn though. It’s pretty stiff and doesn’t drape very nicely.
Overall, the pattern is really well written and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to making more Little Monkeys Crochet items.
