Work

The Present

I currently work for SSP who provide software, webservices, and websites to the Insurance sector. Most of the work if performed using C#/ASP.NET. Although a lot of back end systems in the insurance sector still use COBOL, I don't have to get involved with this as someone else is responsible for creating the intermediary engine to enable communitcation between the COBOL engines and the new C#/ASP.NET websites. Systems I help create are used by companies such as RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) and NIG.

The Past

Before working for SSP, I worked at Friday-Ad where I programmed using PHP, classic ASP, and ASP.NET(C#). Friday-Ad are a leading pay for classified advertising company in the South of England.

Other companies I have worked for include Accenture, Seeboard Energy, American Express, fLEX-e LTD

I learnt the theory behind my work at Portsmouth University where I studied first for an HND in Software Engineering, and then a degree in Computing. However, while the theory is great and has genuinely been useful to me, I wouldn't have got anywhere on this alone... for any undergrads reading this - MAKE SURE you can put the theory into practice otherwise you'll be of little use to those who you want to pay you for your skills.
